Cortina d´Ampezzo (Dolomites, Italy)

Today Cortina d'Ampezzo is known as Olympic City of the 1956 Olympic Wintergames. This little town in the Dolomites has a really long tradition of wintersports. The ski club of Cortina was already founded in 1903, which means that it is the oldest one in Italy today. These days Cortina is particullarly a glamorous place where the Italian "Schickeria" is be seen and see. Walking at the shopping street "Corso Italia" it is really funny and strange to watch the people. Although Cortina has some really nice places in his town it seems a little bit soulless with all the shops for the rich people. Maybe the character of the old village of Cortina d`Ampezzo is missing in these decadent atmosphere.
On the way from Alta Badia to Cortina d'Ampezzo we were passing the rocks of the "Naturpark Fanes-Sennes-Prags" and the passes of Valparola and Falzarego.

For sorrow it was a little bit cloudy, so the panoramic view to Cortina was dimmed.

This house is the home of the Ethnographic Museum of Ampezzo.

Some impressions of the "Corso Italia".

In a hidden corner we found this gondola and this funny "devil".
