Les Saintes - archipel au sud de la Guadeloupe

"Les Saintes" are seven island situated in the south of Guadeloupe. Only two of these islands are inhabited. Here you can find some lonely beaches and wunderful bays. Some poeple say that these islands are the most beutiful in the Caribbean. The crossing by boat isn`t funny because there are often big waves and a rough sea, but therefore you will see the paradise. We only stayed there for two hours between two dives so we couldn`t leave "Terre-de-Haut". But this little town is really a lovely location with it`s Caribbean houses and fantastic french atmosphere.

A trip to the eastend of "Grand Terre" (Guadeloupe)

At the eastend of Guadeloupe some very fissured cliffs are building the barrier to the Atlantic Ocean.
This place is called "Pointe de Chateaux". Climbing the hill you`ll have a view to the island situated in front of Guadeloupe called "La Desirade".

Along the road back to "St. Francois" in the south there are many very beautiful beaches like this one.

On the beach in the white sand we found some alluvial corals.

On our way back home to Basse Terre we visited the old slave market at Petit-Canal with it`s memorial.

And...like every evening here in paradise once again a beautiful evening atmosphere "au port de Petit-Canal".

From Bouillante to Basse-Terre

On our today's tour from Bouillante (Côte sous le vent = Windward Coast), we travelled along the winding road on the west coast of Guadeloupe, towards the south until Basse-Terre.

Along the road we found again and again colorful graffities.

Located at the foot of Sufriere (the 1467m high active Volcano), which hides his mountain peak the most time of the year in the clouds, Basse-Terre is a colorful city with a lot of things who wait to be discovered.

In Basse-Terre, the famous Rum is manufactured at the destillery Bologne (Rum de Bologne) which was foundated in the 17th century. Today, the visitor can see the hole process from the sugar cane cultivation until the final product, the rum.

In 1650, in the south of the city of Basse-Terre was build the Fort Louis Delgre, with its impressive walls which braves the elements until today.

In the evening we enjoyed the beautiful and spectacular sunset.

Esslingen: Christmas Market and more...

The very old and handsome city of Esslingen with its Christmas Market is really an ideal place for having some an entertaining time on a sunday afternoon.

During these weeks before Christmas Esslingen not only presents a Christmas Market. There also exists a Medieval Market. This combination of these two different markets is the biggest of its kind in southern Germany. Many handmade articles and a lot of very original things can be found by strolling across the market, for example this selection of spices...

...or this very special bottles with wine of raspberries, elder and more...
